Springfield Park Day 2009

Park Day was held on Friday, July 31, through Sunday, August 2, 2009 in Springfield, Missouri.
The crescendo of all three days festivities is the Silver Springs Beauty Pageant. Silver Springs is the name of what the African Americans in Springfield refer to “the Black Park.” There were five divisions that young ladies can compete in. Little girls (0 to 3 approx.), Young Girls (4 to 7), Tweens (8 to 11), Junior Miss (12 to 16) and Miss Silver Springs (17+). (ages are approximate).
This year’s winner wore a beautiful black swimsuit and black heels. Her skin complexion was absolutely beautiful. And she knew she looked good, too. Her confidence shown the entire time she walked around the pool. And the crowd that surrounded the chain fence roared in excitement and sealed the deal that she would be crowned Miss Silver Springs 2009.
